5 Colleges Book Sale

Vermont Wellesley Club

Dear Vermont Wellesley Alumnae,

The 56th Five Colleges Book Sale is poised for takeoff!  Collecting, sorting and pricing of books have begun in White River Junction, VT.  The dates of the sale are Saturday, 22 April, 9:00 – 5:00 and Sunday, 23 April, 9 – 3:00 (half-price-day).  It will be in the Lebanon, NH High School, where there is ample parking. Complete details can be found on the website www.five-collegesbooksale.org

The New Hampshire and Vermont alumnae of Wellesley College are encouraged to help with this scholarship fund-raising event, whether by delivering, sorting or pricing books, prior to the sale, or by working at the sale itself.  Work days are Mondays through Saturdays;  the hours are 9 to 4, Wednesdays ‘til 7.

The site is in the Gilman Office Complex, WRJ, VT.

DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 11 off I 91, then head North on Route 5. Turn right onto Sykes Mountain Avenue, then right onto Holiday Drive (past the post office). Gilman Office Center is located at the 4th entrance on the left, and #224 is the second building on the right. Follow the posted book sale signs. Parking is readily available. (The sorting site is across from the VT Dept. Of Motor Vehicles building. Both are within the Gilman Office Center, not directly on Holiday Drive).

OF SPECIAL INTEREST is the Wellesley Work Day, Saturday, 18 March9 – 4:30.  To take part, please bring a light lunch and join us there for a fun-filled, productive day of sorting books and, by our numbers, show that Wellesley women are a real force in this effort. Drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring along any treats you would like to share. If you live at a distance, see about staying with a friend, the night before, either for the work day or for the sale.

Every woman can—and should—make a meaningful contribution to her world. There is a growing recognition that women's empowerment and leadership are crucial to their own advancement, and to worldwide societal change. Wellesley and its alumnae have supported and championed women's intellectual and social development and autonomy for over 100 years.
