Vermont Wellesley Club - June update

Vermont Wellesley Club

Dear [first_name],

Ahhhh.... summertime is here! I hope you will join us for some events this summer, but even if you can't - here's everything you need to know about the Vermont Club this summer.

Upcoming Events:

10:00AM - 1:35PM Sat 22 Jul 2017

Sheri Larsen '70 and Elizabeth Bassett '72 will lead a hike up Mt. Abraham via the Long Trail from Lincoln Gap in Lincoln.  The hike is 5.2 miles round trip and has an elevation gain of almost 1600 feet.  We plan to start the hike at 10 am. Due to limited parking, we will try to organize carpools.  Please RSVP to Sheri Larsen at or 802-878-6828.

5:00PM - 7:00PM Sun 13 Aug 2017

RSVP information will be forthcoming. For now - Save the Date!

As always - we'd love to see more events in more places. Please be in touch if you'd like to host something - we'll spread the word and get alums there!

Updates from our Annual Meeting:

Awards should be given to the 12 hearty souls who braved the April Fool's Day snow storm (no joke!) to attend our Annual Meeting at VPR in Colchester.  They suffered the snow AND a bylaws revision.  Truly - I say awards all around.  For those of you who don't believe it's true - minutes are available for your review.

Something from the College:

A large envelope arrived this week - "Dear Ms. Crawford, I am thrilled to enclose Wellesley new Financial Aid Endowment Fund Report...."  At first I didn't realize the treasure I held in my hand.  Allison Sobel, Senior Associate Director of Donor Relations reports that the Vermont Wellesy Club Scholarship Fund is now valued at $321,784.  (Market value... which is slighly higher than the book value of $145,969.)

We are thrilled to see that the fruits of the 5 Colleges Book Sale continues to grow.

Good work to all who have contributed donations that have built this fund - from books to volunteering for the sale.

Wellesley reports:

  • 60% of students receive financial aid!
  • $63,916 = current fee to attend (plus room and board)
  • $45,000 = average financial aid package

Thanks one and all - stay in touch.
